Students must have a minimum of Grade 10 Reading and Comprehension and a solid grasp of the English Language.

Introduction to Private Security, Applying Legal Rights
and Responsibilities, Note Taking, Report Writing, Patrol Procedures and
Basic Security Training Manual. Students will receive their manual upon registration.
The Justice Institute of BC will administer the exam on the sixth day of class. The written exam consists of 100 questions in the multiple choice format. Students must attain a mark of 70% or better to pass the exam and meet the Province of British Columbia’s minimum standard for licensing. Students must provide a valid, government issued piece of ID with a picture at the time of testing. Students without the proper ID will not be issued an exam. The exam can be taken up to three times with a re-testing fee.
Security candidates must be aware that this is an intense program that requires extensive reading and commitment to their overall success. Instructor support is provided throughout the duration of the course. **Participants who successfully write the examination must undergo a security check prior to licensing. All courses are subject to a minimum size requirement and as such, cancellation can be made with reasonable prior notice. Students can cancel without a cancellation fee if notification is received three days before the commencement of the course.
Participants who act in a professional manner, complete all assignments and participate in class activities may return without charge.
